Bits and Bobs:
End of May 2024
We are in the middle of the last two weeks of school, and I have found myself without anything of enough significance to occupy an entire piece. So I thought I might try a slightly different approach. Here, then, are several smallish, recent, and generally unrelated notions, as a sort of catch-all.
Endless May. We’re in the last weeks of the school year, and I have a hard time remembering a year that has felt quite this long at the end. I’m not sure why this is the case. Part of it might be sunsetting my work as an Instructional Coach. Part of it might be that too many colleagues have had pretty bad exits to the year due to personal circumstances. Part of it could well be that as I enter my third decade of this work, my perspective on such things is shifting. I don’t know. All I know is that it feels like a slog this year, much more than it has at any point I can recall. It will be interesting to see if this is a transient thing, or if it continues into the future.
GPT and Google Apps Scripts. I’m sure that many people have gotten there before this month, but I’ve only just now gotten around to having GPT write Google Apps Scripts to do things that I need. I’m not fluent enough to build anything meaningful while programming from scratch, but I do have just enough knowledge (and vocabulary! Never has it been so useful to be able to reference…
