Open Questions for 2025

I very much enjoy writing my weekly reflections, but as of late they have seemed a bit too freewheeling. Here at the start of 2025, I thought I might do something a little different. So, let’s list some of the major open questions that I have, with a mind to use them to frame my writing for the next while.

Here they are:

  1. How can I approach my teaching in a way that is most reflective of my beliefs about education within the context of the system that I work in?
  2. How do I support my beliefs, and determine when they are in need of re-examination?
  3. How can I rectify my beliefs and values with my participation in various social systems that are oppositional to those beliefs and values?
  4. How do I work to advocate for and demonstrate my beliefs within the world?
  5. How can I be a parent and partner that I am comfortable with being?
  6. How do I pursue my personal interests and development?
  7. How is a brain that has learned something different from a brain that has not?

I’ve loosely grouped them by theme, but only just. I don’t suspect I’ll work through them in order, or hew to them dogmatically, or even completely kick all their tires. But it feels like a nice project to frame the start of the year, and I do love a project!
