Revisiting an Unoriginal List of Teacher Interview Observations

The forest is full of monkeys.

Once upon a time, I was an administrator. It only lasted two years, before I was swept up into my current life, but it did give me occasion to maintain a weekly-ish blog about what it was like to become an admin. from the perspective of really having enjoyed being a teacher.

I wrote about a lot of things related to that job. Very little of it is worth a reader’s time, particularly as it ages. Though having now moved back into a position where I participate in hiring new members of our science department, I did return to this piece that I had written about hiring. At the very least it gives me a chance to see how much present-me agrees with past-admin-me.

I won’t go through everything here (I could never waste so much of your time, dear reader!), but my fealty to the online form even then means that I don’t have to. Let’s just look at the main points, and see what hits anew, and what might miss.
