Two Quick AI Whimsies

Maximal Siliness

--

I’m in some other places this week, so not a lot to write in with. But I did have two different run-ins with very silly AI that I thought were worth sharing.

  1. My school has moved off of Zoom for videoconferencing and is now using Google Meet. Fine. Baked into our Google Apps for Education. Seemingly identical at this point in development. No big deal. This week was the first time I really tried to use it during our virtual Back to School night. One thing Meet does is provide a real-time automatic transcript of the thing. Which is cool. It’s pretty good for what it is, but it’s not perfect. Here is the list of things it mis-transcribed over the course of my 5, 10-minute chat sessions. {I had GPT pull out the errors.}
  2. While we’re on that subject, GPT kind of knows about me now. One of the things about being named David Knuffke is that I can not hide on the internet. As a result, most AI’s that can scrape the web start to learn about me pretty quickly. The last time I checked, GPT was an exception, but when I gave it a shot again this week, I discovered that it is now aware of me. Sort of. Like any good LLM, it bullshits its way through some parts. Here’s the record of the chat so you can see what I mean.

Anyway, that’s it for this week. If you’re upset with the brevity, feel free to speak to Lila if you can’t find me in-between runs to the International School of Amsterdam 😂.
